Morocco put up a valiant effort against Croatia in the third place match but lost by 2-1.

The history making African side wvi became the first side from the continent to qualify for the semifinal of the world cup were beaten by goals from Josko Gvardiol and Mislav Orsic though Achraf Dari had scored to level things up.

The Atlas Lions settled for fourth place against the Croats who had finished second place in 2018 with the coach Zlatko Dalic describing the win as “golden layer” for his side.
Dalic said: “We won the bronze medal and it has a golden layer, it is like we have won the gold medal tonight.

“Fighting for the third place play-off and losing would have been a disaster. This is the end of a cycle, end of a journey. My players spared no efforts and these are what we work for.”
