WOMEN MINISTER LAUNCHES MUSIC VIDEO CLIP TITLED; “NO WOMEN, NO NAIJA’

The Nigerian Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen OFR KSG has launched a new music video clip titled; ‘No Women, No Naija’ as one of the Nigerian Side Events in the ongoing United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, (CSW65), as meeting holds virtual in the UN Headquarters, New York.
The musical clip which was launched on Monday, 22nd March 2021 at the Nigerian Army Resource Center, Mambilla Barracks, Asokoro, Abuja, Nigeria highlighted the milestones contributions of Nigerian women to National and International Affairs.
The Director Press, Shehu Maikai, in a release to journalists today disclosed that Dame Pauline Tallen said that the contributions of Nigerian women such as Mrs. Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iwealla, Director General of the World Trade Organization and Mrs. Fatima Kyari, UN Africa Representative are legion and worthy of note.
“These Nigerian women, serving in International organizations are great achievers. They are hard-working and have made women, the world over, very proud of womanhood”, Tallen expressed.
Speaking further, Dame Pauline Tallen stated that all the female ministers in the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari are workaholics, pointing out that they are all role models for Nigerian girls and women to emulate, as she called on women in leadership positions to take deliberate steps to mentor, at least, one young lady to sustain the achievements recorded in the area of sourcing women for leadership positions.
Also, Dame Pauline Tallen called on parents to make sure that they send their female wards to school. “This is important because without education our women can not aspire for leadership positions”, she said.
Reacting to insecurity in the country, the Minister expressed dissatisfaction over schoolgirls abductions.
She condemned in the strongest possible terms the spates of kidnapping in girls’ schools and called on security operatives and community vigilante groups to ensure the safety of schools in their environment is ensured.
The Minister called on all women to fast and pray for Mr. President so that he can succeed in the fight against, banditry, kidnapping, Boko haram, and all forms of insecurity in the country, charging the women to challenge all societal ills that tend to undermine women’s progress.
She advised women who intend to vie for political offices to start their preparation early.
“You should send your names to my Ministry for possible advice and assistance, she charged”,
The Minister thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for making it possible for women to participate in nation-building activities, calling on the Senate to consider and ensure that Gender parity is provided for in the proposed constitutional amendment.
“It is disheartening to see persons that rode on the shoulders of women to political fame, turn round to oppose policies that would bring a better life for women, children, and the vulnerable in our society.
We must vote such politicians out, now that the year 2023 general elections are by the corner”, she added.
Earlier, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Amb. Anthonia Ekpa in her welcome address applauded the Honourable minister for her giant strides in curtailing the issues relating to women and children in Nigeria, as she said that the event is aimed at outlining the challenges and successes attained within the macrocosm of womanhood in the last twelve months, then fashioning out possible ways to better the lives of women within and outside the leadership sphere.
Similarly, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Social Development and Disaster Management, Hajiya Sadiya Faruk, said that her Ministry is working together with the Ministry of Women Affairs to bring succor to the poorest of the poor in our society.
The UN Women Country Representative, Ms. Comfort Lampty, who represented the UN Country Representative, Mr. Edward Kallon, said that the CSW65 was localized as a result of Covid-19 so that Nigerian women would be able to participate, virtually, in the global meeting.
Other participants that presented goodwill messages include; members of the security forces, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and Civil Societies Organizations.
