As Nigeria boasts abundant natural resources that encompass diverse tourism and aesthetic attractions. The country’s wide array of ecosystems positions it as a promising and highly attractive tourism destination, Chairman Main Organising Committee of the National Conference for Domestic Eco Tourism and Exhibition in Nigeria, Dr. Obinna Ugochukwu Alexander Onyeocha has said that they will will partner with Burkina Faso to boost tourism sector of West Africa to other continents.
Dr Obinna made this known in Abuja on Monday, 30th October, 2023, when he led his team on a courtesy call on the Ambassador of Burkina Faso to Nigeria.
According to Alexander, the essence of the partnership is to massively promote tourism of West Africans to the outside world.
“The Westerners have shown us what they have. Now we should show them what we have too.”
“We want to join forces with Burkina Faso to boost tourism sector of West Africa to other continents.
Let’s showcase the countries rich culture within and with the rest of the world”, he stated.
He added that the partnership will also focus on improving the economy of both countries.
“With this partnership our countries will experience unprecedented change in the tourism sector.
“A positive change that the country had never experience. The change that will lead to increase in revenue generation” he added.
He noted that Nigeria has held 1st and 2nd conferences and the 3rd will come up in November 2024.
He urged Burkina Faso to seize the opportunity to fully participate in the 3rd edition of the conference adding that it will be an avenue for them to show the outside world what Burkina Faso has
“You may not necessarily come with your products in form of piece of craft or artefacts because the mobility may be very difficult. So we have a new way of marketing tourism and it is called the visual tourism.”
He informed Gouda of the Committee’s enthusiasm and strong desire to strengthen their relationship with Burkina Faso, particularly through education, with the aim of deepening educational cooperation
Responding, the Ambassador of Burkina Faso to Nigeria, Passida Pascal Gouda commended the group for finding his Embassy worthy of collaboration
The Ambassador underscored the timeliness of the visit and reiterated the Embassy’s readiness to enhance collaboration for a mutually beneficial projects that would contribute to and enhance Tourism in Nigeria and Burkina Faso
He assured he was going to as well pass the information to the Minister of Tourism in Burkina Faso
He added that issue of tourism is key to his country disclosing that the government of Burkina Faso is determined to bolster its tourism industry.
