The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has expressed willingness to partner with Africa Medical Centre of Excellence.
The NiDCOM Boss stated this when she received a team of diaspora doctors in State House Conference Hall, Abuja
The reason for the visit is the plan to seek collaboration with the commission base on medical ground and see how to improve health sector in the country.
Receiving the team, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, welcomed the partnership and assured them of her commitment towards ensuring a sustainable developed health sector in Nigeria and ensure its a win-win for Nigeria and Diaspora.
Dabiri-Erewa expressed sadness that Nigerian medical personnels are leaving but the beauty of it is that they are doing great out there, making Nigeria proud.
She urged Nigerian Diaspora Healthcare Professionals to engage more in various healthcare related activities and initiatives intended to contribute to the growth of Nigeria’s health sector and serve the needs of citizens in their home country.
NiDCOM Boss expressed that part of the exciting things about the partnership is we don’t have to risk our lives, waste resources to travel all over the world to treat ourselves again
She pledged that the commission will set up a working committee that will create a corridor for African Medical Centre of Excellence and Nigerians in diaspora
Speaking earlier, the Chief Executive Officer, African Medical Centre, Brian Deaver said the collaboration will raise the local standards of healthcare delivery as well as provide a blueprint for quality of services required to address Nigeria and Africa’s healthcare and related challenges.
“The partnership is aimed to end the current massive capital flight owing and flight risk to medical trips outside of the shores of the nation.”said Deaver
Deaver added that it will also promote Intra-African Trade medical tourism by offering a full spectrum of services in general healthcare across the continent, in addition to training, research and development capabilities.
He implored Nigerians in diaspora to bring back home the skills, knowledge,money etc they have acquired to better the health sector in Nigeria
