The Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio-ibrahim has said that the Administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to serving People and not just a Political Party in order to deliver the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
The Minister dropped this hint while receiving the Forum of National Youth leaders of all Political Parties in her Office in Abuja recently.
According to her, “We are a government that works with People in order to ensure that development goes to all Nigerians. We are here to serve People and not just a political Party”.
Ibrahim disclosed that she has received the Manifesto on Youth development agenda of the Forum’s Presidential candidate and it has been considered in the ongoing National Youth Policy review.
The Minister further stressed that why this is necessary is that “we want to ensure that the policy captures the voices of young People of your Political Parties through the Manifesto because all the Policy Statements in the manifesto are Youth-centered”.
She urged those candidates who haven’t submitted theirs to kindly oblige so as to ensure their voices are heard because they are all Nigerians irrespective of ethnic, religion or political differences .
“There are so many policies in Nigeria but the implementation of those policies is where the problem lies but for us to see that we have seamless implementation of this document, we want you to collaborate with us to ensure that you are also accountable in the implementation. We wañt you to keep reminding us the commitments we have made”, Jamila stated.
In his response, Eze Chukwu, from South East who spoke on behalf of the Forum members emphasised that their members should be considered in terms of NYSC posting and any other good gesture from the Ministry, adding that it is one of the ways of enjoying dividends of democracy.
In his submission, Ikenna Anyalanehi, APGA Youth leader said that they have seen the good works that the Minister had started doing since assumption of office as Minister of Youth Development and they want this trend to be sustained. He made it known that the Forum will collaborate with her in developing Youth Sector. He added that the Forum is not interested in joining any protest that is detrimental to the development of Nigeria.
