University of Ibadan Debunks Armed Robbery Rumors, Confirms Lone Thief Incident

The Management of the University of Ibadan has issued a public notice to correct the misinformation circulating about an alleged armed robbery incident at the Awolowo Hall of Residence.

According to the notice, the incident was actually a lone thief who entered two rooms in the hall and stole mobile phones belonging to students. The rooms were inadvertently left open by the students themselves.

The thief fled the scene immediately after an alarm was raised, and the safety officers promptly responded. The police were also alerted, and efforts were made to track the thief.

The University Management emphasized that no students were harmed or traumatized during the incident, contrary to reports of an armed robbery attack. The Management assured the public of the safety of lives and property on the campus.

The notice was signed by Ganiyu O. Saliu, Registrar of the University of Ibadan.
