UN POLAC Visits Special Correction Centres, charges Children not to give up on their dreams, aspirations

As part of its annual outreach, the Lagos state chapter of the United Nations POLAC, an International Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), has visited a correctional centre in the state, urging the children at the centres not to give up on thier dreams and aspirations.

Director General of UN POLAC, Halo Eton, made this disclosure when the group visited a correctional centre for boys and girls both in Mushin and Ikeja area of Lagos, respectively on Tuesday December 19th, 2023.

Eton explained that the purpose of the UN-POLAC visitation is to Identify with the Special Correctional Center teams and to commend them for their efforts and commitment, as well as to meet and know the beautiful young ones, with the view of making a better Nigerians.

According to him, UN-POLAC is an advocate of peace Security, human dignity and better living for all.
There is no doubt that there is more peaceful and secured society, these beautiful young ones need to be guided and nurtured to live right and be more responsible to there family and country.

While commending the children, the DG said, “For you future leaders, there is hope for you. Don’t give up on your dreams and aspirations. Where you are today is the very least of where you will be. As long as you keep trusting God, working hard and staying away from crime. We love you all and wish you all a very beautiful Christmas and new year in advance”.

Also, speaking at the event, the Coordinator, UN POLAC Lagos state chapter, Dr Nzeribe Okegbue, pointed out that they are at the Correctional centre to celebrate the joy of the season with the wonderful and beautiful young girls and boys to applaud the good work of the team, the men and women that are taking care them.

He, therefore, noted that “We believe that for a better society, this children need to be reformed and the team is doing well in taking care of them and ensuring that their future is better.”

According to him, for us to have a peaceful society this children need to be properly reformed and nurtured to be a good citizen of federal republic of Nigeria, and that’s exactly what the team, the men and women that are signed in taking care of them are doing and they are doing a very good work.

“We have come to identify with them, and to also show them that they’re loved and you know that when somebody knows that he or she is loved, the person will want to go extra mile to want to live,” he added.
