UI pledges to support FRSC

The Management of the University of Ibadan has pledged to support the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector RS 11.3 Oyo State Command within the limits of its resources.
The pledge was given on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Professor Ezekiel O. Ayoola, while receiving the Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr. Joshua Oluwafemi Adekanye on a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor.
Professor Ayoola said the University takes pride in its core mandates of Teaching, Learning and Community Service and always promotes Town and Gown relationships.
He assured that the University would engage the services of the FRSC in the re- training of its official drivers.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Adekanye, recalled that the FRSC was established in 1988 by the Federal Government to ensure safety on Nigeria’s highways.
He appreciated the University for its past cooperation with the Sector Command and commended the efforts of the UI Special Marshals Unit which had actively controlled traffic within and in front of the campus as well as used Diamond 101.1 FM Radio for public enlightenment.
He called on the University Management to speed up action on the setting up of a Driver’s Licence office within the University to ease the renewal of Driver’s Licences for members of the University community.
Corps Commander Adekanye is the 15th Sector Commander of the FRSC RS 11.3 Oyo State Command. He oversees 15 units in Oyo State, 2 Area Commands, many Special Marshal units, and 10 Driver’s Licence centres, among others.
He was accompanied on the visit by Deputy Corps Commander Titilayo T. Olayiwola of the Technical Department and Assistant Route Commander Chioma L. Okoli of the Protocol Unit.
