The University of Ibadan seeks to award its degrees based on learning and character. While the academic arms of the university concentrate on training, the University ‘s Centre for Social Orientation (CenSO) seeks to promote good character and ethical orientation among all members of the university community and its environs.

It was in furtherance of this objective that the Director of the CenSO, Professor Kunbi Labeodan, led a team of CenSO members on an AntiCultism Visitation to Community High School, Ajibode.

She explained that the Centre went to the school with a view to teaching the students the evils inherent in cultism and other antisocial behaviours.

The visiting team included academics, administrators, and religious leaders who told the children that cultism is evil, illegal, and deadly.

The children were advised to shun all acts of violence, rape and promiscuity, hooliganism, vandalism, examination malpractices, laziness, indecent dressing, and corruption in all its ramifications.

Professor Labeodan assured that the CenSO will reach out to as many components of the university and members of the nearby communities.

The Centre for Social Orientation is an arm of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office with a Directorate status. It is UI’s equivalent of the combination of the National Orientation Agency and Public Complaints Commission with the additional mandate to eradicate cultic activities and other anti-social behaviours on campus.
