U-17 WWC: Nigeria thumps New Zealand

Nigeria’s Flamingos got their first win at the 2022 FIFA U-17 women’s World Cup with an emphatic 4-0 win against New Zealand in their second Group B game on Friday.
The Flamingos, who went into the game on the back of a 2-1 loss to Germany in their group opener, saw first half goals from Amina Bello, Miracle Usani and second half strikes from Taiwo Afolabi and Etim Edidiong earning the Flamingos a deserved win.
The girls took a deserving lead through Bello on 16 minutes, who headed in a cross from Tumininu Adeshina. Usani made it 2-0 in the 34th before Afolabi added the third goal with 15 minutes left.
There was time for one more goal at the death as Edidiong scored the fourth goal in the 95th minute to complete the rout.
The Flamingos will face Chile in their final group game on Monday, October 17, 2022.
