The Impact of Women Cheapening Themselves in the Real Estate Industry
By Onwughalu Queen Ifunanya
The real estate industry demands a high level of professionalism, integrity, and strategic thinking. It is a sector that requires women to not only possess sharp business acumen but also uphold their dignity. Unfortunately, a growing concern is the tendency of some women in the industry to cheapen themselves in pursuit of sales, relying on unethical tactics that ultimately harm their reputation and the industry’s overall image.
It is important to emphasize that no serious investor is committing millions of naira into a property just to impress a woman. Real estate investments are driven by thorough research, due diligence, and the pursuit of long-term value. The idea that an investor would make such a significant financial commitment simply to win a woman’s favor is not only false but also diminishes the true purpose of these transactions. Investors are looking for assets that align with their financial goals, not opportunities to impress or manipulate.
Women who engage in these tactics not only cheapen themselves but also bring shame to the hardworking professionals in the real estate industry. Such behavior perpetuates damaging stereotypes and undermines the efforts of women who have worked tirelessly to build credibility and respect in this field. If a man’s intention were solely to please a woman, he would likely opt for a simpler route, such as offering a few million naira directly, rather than making a complex investment that ultimately benefits him.
As women in real estate, it is crucial to project ourselves with professionalism, integrity, and moral fortitude. These qualities are essential in an industry where trust is paramount. We must embody these values if we are to succeed and be taken seriously. The future of real estate is bright, but it requires us to rise above outdated stereotypes and embrace the roles we have earned with dignity and respect.
To address these issues and foster a culture of ethical growth, I established MAICA Solutions Ltd., a multifaceted company dedicated to excellence across various sectors, including real estate. Under MAICA Solutions Ltd., we operate MAICA Properties, a global real estate company committed to setting new standards in the industry through innovative and ethical practices.
Furthermore, recognizing the need for a platform that supports the ethical development of professionals, we launched the MAICA Global Affiliate Partners (MGAP) on August 17, 2024. MGAP is a platform designed to help professionals and aspiring professionals grow ethically, advance in their careers, and find their true purpose. By leveraging the latest advancements in technology and AI, MGAP provides the tools and knowledge necessary for individuals to remain competitive and relevant in this rapidly digitalizing world.
At MAICA Solutions Ltd., through both MAICA Properties and MGAP, we are committed to empowering individuals to achieve success with honor and professionalism. We believe that by embracing technology, upholding high ethical standards, and supporting one another, we can help our industry thrive and maintain its integrity.
It is time for women in real estate to elevate their approach, to be recognized not for superficial attributes but for their expertise, ethics, and professional conduct. Let us work together to build a more respected and ethical real estate industry—one that we can all be proud of.
