The Bangladesh Mausoleum: A World Class Monument to Behold

In memory of the heroic struggle of the people and as a mark of respect for the martyr’ of the nation, the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Muyibur Rahman laid the foundation stone of the martyr memorial centre on the 16th December 1972
The national martyrs’ memorial centre, which is situated on Savar at Dhaka-Aricha road, is a memorial centre for the over three (3) million dauntless patriots, who laid their lives for freedom during the Liberation war.
The memorial centre which seats on approximately 85 acres of land contains a monument rise from ashes, like a phoenix ‘‘the minar”, a tower of seven isosceles triangles, a natural water course, a sacred complex with ten graves of martyrs’ with murals on it wall, an open air stage for performing arts, a reception hall, a mosque, twin helipad, a cafeteria, housing footpath and bridge, an artificial lake, parking lot and a green garden.
The Director of the centre told the Visit Bangladesh 2019 participants that citizens and tourists troupe in their thousands to see the beautiful edifice that forms the history of Bangladesh.
The construction work was done by the public works department (PWD) of the government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
