SYNERGY: Youth Ministry partners NSCDC in readiness for Presidential Initiative for Youths Enterprise Clusters

In readiness for the Presidential Initiative for Youths Enterprise clusters the Minister of Youths and Sports Development Dr Jamila Bio Ibrahim has stated that without the primary place of security whatever infrastructure or investments set in motion would amount to a great risk hence the need to collaborate with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) whose statutory responsibility it is to Protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure across the nation.

This statement was relayed by the Honourable Minister while on a courtesy visit to the National Headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in Sauka, Abuja.

Dr Ibrahim said at the heels of the approval of approval for the launch of the Presidential Initiative of Youths Enterprise Clusters, it is pertinent to explore areas of synergy and collaborations with the Ministry of Interior and the NSCDC to enhance the successful take-off of the initiative and provide more jobs in the country.

The Minister explained that the enterprise clusters which will eventually translate into critical national assets would at the pilot phase be established in the six geopolitical zones, one per geopolitical zone in the country.

The Honourable Minister commended the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni OFR, for mapping out the requisite strategies to expand the scope of the Corps across the nation. He expressed optimism that the presence of NSCDC in the 36 states and the FCT as well as 774 Local Government areas would be a driving force in the youths enterprise initiative.

“We need to send a strong message to our investors to assure them that their investments are guaranteed with the adequate security network that we would be exploring while collaborating with the NSCDC. Your inputs as regards the draft of these clusters as it concerned security are notably welcome”

In his response, the NSCDC Commandant General assured the Hon Minister of the Corps’ readiness to collaborate and cooperate with the Ministry of Youths and Sport Development for the success of the presidential initiative stating that it will go a long way in engaging youths nationwide and ameliorate the spare of crimes in the nation.

“It is very germane that the government is bringing about an initiative that would engage the youths, putting them into clusters to provide them with the platform to contribute to Nigeria’s development. The NSCDC is therefore ready to key into any initiative of your ministry,” Audi added.
