Suspected Cultists Attack Obanliku Local Government Council Chairman in Cross River State

Obanliku Local Government Council’ Chairman, Evang. Hon. Mrs. Margaret Inde was attacked by gun men suspected to be Cultists yesterday, in Bendigie Community, her home town.

Obanliku LGA, Akpo John U, the ugly and barbaric incident happened within the hours of 7:30 pm. “Though they came believing the council boss was around, but they were however disappointed because it was only her driver who was home with the car”, he disclosed
He said eye witnesses confirmed that the boys came on motorcycles with guns shooting sporadically, and then later shot at the car and destroyed it.
The Council Chairman, Hon Inde, who hail and hearty, has reiterated that election is not war. She called on all to desist from being used by politicians to cause mayhem, social unrest, threatening lives, destroying properties, or distorting our peaceful coexistence.
She enjoins all stakeholders in these electioneering process to see politics not as a battle ground, but as a window to serve our community. She warned that perpetrators won’t go unpunished, hence they will face the law.
She calls on all the people of Obanliku to unite against political violence and give timely information to security operatives to enable them track those social miscreants who are masquerading as Cultists with the goal of derailing the political process.
Hon Inde however reiterated that Obanliku is a peaceful place and asked all leaders in their respective communities to unite against political violence. She further stated that the safety and security of all our people is uppermost in her priority.
She called on all people of good will to rise to the challenge of securing our communities, and play politics with ethics and humanity.
