As the Paris 2024 Olympics heated up, conflicting reports emerged about Team Nigeria’s preparations, sparking concerns of a crisis within the team. However, the Federal Ministry of Sports Development stepped in to set the record straight.
According to Diana Mary Nsan, Special Adviser Media, to the Honourable Minister of Sports Development, a meeting was convened by the Honorable Minister, Senator John Owan Enoh, to assess the Nigeria Olympic Committee’s (NOC) preparedness for the Games. During the meeting, NOC President Engr Habu Gumel presented the committee’s efforts, including a generous donation of 200 kits to Team Nigeria by a prominent brand.
Contrary to rumors of a “two kits for one national team” crisis, the Ministry clarified that there was no issue. The donation was simply a gesture of support for the team, and the NOC had everything under control.
With the facts now clear, Team Nigeria can focus on what matters most – excelling in the Olympic Games. The Ministry’s swift clarification has dispelled any doubts, and the team can now concentrate on making Nigeria proud in Paris.
