Pioneer General Manager and Head of Station of Inspiration 105.9 FM Uyo, Samuel Enoh Akpan, has been appointed the Managing Editor, The Southern Examiner (TSE), office in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital.

Akpan, who recently stepped aside from the services of the radio station, is bringing his years of experience to bear on the news portal in the areas of Business and Politics. He is an astute journalist, editor, broadcaster, writer, public relations strategist, sales manager, administrator and manager of men and resources.

He hails from Afaha Itiat in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. He spent the bulk of his life in Lagos where he was born on March 4, 1967. Akpan holds a 1988 Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication (B.Sc Hons) from the University of Lagos. He also had a stint at the University of Benin for his post graduate studies in Public Administration, MPA between 1998 and 2000.

He is also a 2018 alumnus of the prestigious Enterprise Development Center, EDC (Lagos Business School) of the Pan Atlantic University, Lagos. He has also attended many courses within Nigeria and outside the Country, including a Master Class in Broadcast Journalism and Ethics at the Ghana Institute of Journalism, GIJ, Accra – Ghana in August 2014.

Before joining the Inspiration FM, he worked variously with Channels Television and Galaxy Television as senior reporter between 2003 and 2007. He also served as a Reporter/Researcher with defunct Concord Newspapers, Abuja Bureau and was also the Bureau Chief, South-South (based in Port Harcourt) for the defunct Encounter Express newspaper.

The Inspiration FM chief was the pioneer News Editor of Family Love 97.7 FM, Port Harcourt in 2007 and later served as Head of News, African Independent Television, AIT and Raypower Fm, Port Harcourt between 2010 and 2012. He later worked as General Manager/Head of Station, Love FM 104.5 Crowther Radio, Abuja before joining Inspiration FM as pioneer General Manager/Head of Station for the Uyo Station in April 2016 till January 2024.

Until his exit, Akpan used to host a political discussion programme on radio, Political Conversation every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10 Am and Agriculture and You every Thursday between 11:00 and 11:45 Am and The Sunday Interview on Sundays @ 4.30pm.

Akpan who is also the Executive Director of RAS Media & Farms, was conferred with ‘Ambassador for Peace’ by the Universal Peace Federation in May 2015 and has also received till recently many other laurels/awards in recognition of his resourcefulness in his chosen career.

He is happily married and blessed with two lovely daughters. His hobbies include, playing football, table tennis, travelling, listening to Inspiring music, meeting people, writing and reading. He speaks Igbo, Yoruba and English languages fluently. He is also a practicing organic farmer, owning a 3,000 capacity Poultry Farm at Ituk Mbang in Uruan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom.

He is a member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and some other professional and charitable organisations.
