Sambo, Adegoroye Bows out of Transportation Ministry

After Ten Months in office, as the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari expires on May 29, 2023, the Outgoing Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo and the Minister of State, Prince Ademola Adegoroye, a valedictory session was held in their honour at the Ministry’s premises on Monday, May 26, 2023.
In his speech, the Minister stated that the Ministry has been a wonderful place to work but also one of the most difficult and complicated ministries in Nigeria, with very complicated agencies under it,
Hon Sambo disclosed that the staff in the headquarters made the work less complicated and more interesting, and thanked them for their efforts and support.
He said Nigeria is not tapping from the Inland Waterways
“I am so passionate about Inland Waterways and I know what it means to have effective Inland Waterways Transportation, it is the cheapest way of moving large goods. God did not bless Nigeria with 850 kilometers of coastline and about 10,000 kilometers of navigable waterways for nothing.
“God also blessed us with fertile land, large deposits of minerals including crude oil. We have one of the largest deposits of gold in the world. This country has something it is not tapping”, he emphasized.
He commended the Directors and staff for their support. “I want to say that it is not really farewell because the journey has just begun as we have now become family and friends”.
Speaking also, the Minister of State, Adegoroye thanked God for the opportunity to serve even in the short time.
“It has been a wonderful 10 months and if I leave today it is with mixed feelings but, I’m happy that our assignment has been completed. I have met wonderful and kind people in the Ministry”, he said. “I am pleased that in this journey of life that God took me through this route and I met wonderful people”.
He applauded the Minister for his leadership, guidance, advice and for giving him the platform and opportunities to excel particularly in his support to the Ondo deep seaport.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Mrs. Magdalene Ajani disclosed that although the Ministers were unsure of their directions during the time of transition, they came into office and hit the ground running with accelerated speed in achieving the ‘low hanging fruits’.
Leader of staff union in the ministry, Comrade Apampa Abey, who appreciated both Minister’s for a cordial working relationship, said that the staffs has enjoyed much benefits within the short period of time working with the Ministers.
In attendance were Directors and Deputy Directors, heads of agencies in the Ministry and representatives of clients.
