Release of Minors Is A Significant Steps Towards Justice- ED, Restore Hope For The Boy Child Initiative

The Executive Director, Restore Hope For The Boy Child Initiative, Dr. Babatunde Kayode has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for heeding to requests from by the Civil Society Organisation and others, to release malnourished protesters arrested during the last #end bad governance# protest.

According to him, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent decision to release minors arrested during the End Bad Governance Protests has been hailed as a major victory for human rights in Nigeria. The move, welcomed by organizations like Restore Hope for the Boy Child Initiative, demonstrates the president’s commitment to upholding the rights of all citizens, particularly vulnerable minors.

“The End Bad Governance Protests, which took place in August 2024, saw over 1,000 people detained nationwide, with some losing their lives due to violent crackdowns by security personnel. Among those detained were minors, some as young as 16, who were charged with offenses including treasonable felony and terrorism-related offenses.

“The release of these minors brings hope and relief to their families and communities, and underscores the administration’s resolve to address the grievances that sparked the protests. President Tinubu’s leadership on this matter sets a positive precedent for future actions, recognizing the importance of protecting minors’ rights, taking decisive action, and demonstrating compassion and empathy towards affected families.
