The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to combat corruption in the administration of the Defined Benefit Pension Scheme (DBS).
The MoU, signed by PTAD Executive Secretary Tolulope Odunaiya and ICPC Chairman Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, provides a framework for collaboration between the two institutions in monitoring, investigating, and preventing corrupt practices within the DBS pension system.
According to Odunaiya, the partnership reflects their shared determination to uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability in the administration of the pension scheme. She emphasized that the collaboration would significantly enhance their capacity to prevent, detect, and prosecute corruption-related offenses in the DBS pension system, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Dr. Aliyu commended PTAD’s commitment to fighting corruption and noted that the partnership would create a powerful force in curbing corrupt practices in the pension scheme. He emphasized that the collaboration underscores their shared mandate to promote good governance, strengthen accountability, and safeguard Nigerians’ welfare from fraudulent practices.
The partnership is expected to improve transparency and accountability in the administration of the DBS pension scheme, ensuring that pensioners receive their benefits without undue delays or corrupt practices.
