PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT: Key Strategies to Reformation in the Civil Service – Tarfa

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Yerima P. Tarfa, said performance management is one of the key strategies to reformation in the civil service.
Tarfa stated this in Abuja while flagging off the two-day training workshop on capacity building organized for the Heads of Departments/Units of the Ministry.
According to him, “no organisation can achieve much without regularly training and re-training of its staff”. Therefore, the training is apt and timely, as “it is aimed at exposing the Directors to basic Establishment tools that will drive home its’ importance in the discharge of duty”.
Tarfa, commended the efforts of the Human Resources Management department for organizing the training workshop, and urged participants to make good use of the opportunity, offered by the workshop to build and improve on their professional capacities especially in area of human resources management.
The topics for the two-day training workshop included Establishment Matters; Scheme of Service; Role of National Council on Establishment; Nominal Roll Management and Developing Effective Structure and Organogram.
In her remark, the Director, Human Resources Management, Toyin Alade, said the training program will provide the necessary administrative skills needed by the Directors in the management of their departments and units.
She assured the Permanent Secretary that “brand new directors will emerge from the training”
