Outgoing Bangladesh High Commissioner To Nigeria H.E. Shameem Ahsan Visits Perm Sec. MoFA

The outgoing Bangladesh High Commissioner to Nigera His Excellency, MD. Shameem Ahsan visited the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Dr Anthonia Ekpa at Abuja on Friday, October 23, 2020.

The High Commissioner went with his team members, Mr Barman Bidosh, the First Secretary and Mr Ejramul Houge, The Third Secretary to felicitate with Dr Ekpa who resumed as Permanent Secretary at the MoFA on September 30.

H. E. MD Shameem will soon leave Nigeria to Italy, his new place of assignment.

Mr. Ahsan is a distinguished career foreign service diplomat who has worked in various capacities in Bangladesh Missions in Kuwait, Doha, Nairobi, Rome and Washington DC. Prior to his present assignment, he served as Bangladesh Consul General in New York. At the Headquarters, he served in various capacities including as Director General (External Publicity) and (Europe).

During the course of his long diplomatic career, he attended a number of Summits, numerous international conferences and important meetings/seminars in various countries.

He also attended the year-long National Defence Course (NDC), on security, strategic and development issues from the prestigious National Defence College, Mirpur, Dhaka in 2012.

MD Shameem has written two books on diplomacy/international relations and
several articles on various issues such as role of Bangalee diplomats during the War of Liberation of Bangladesh, diplomatic immunity and privileges, country branding, environmental issues, economic relations, regionalism, South Asia, Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and on literary Issues.

Mrs Anthonia Ekpa (PhD), who received the High Commissioner in a farewell audience resumed duties as Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Abuja, Nigeria with effect from Wednesday September, 2020.

Dr Ekpa was at the Federal ministry of Transportation (FMoT), as the Director in charge of Road Transport and Mass Transit Administration and contributed immensely to uplift the department which was hitherto regarded as a dead end for civil servants in the ministry..

From 2015 to 2020, she gave live to the department with eventful and memorable activities which has given positive impact to Nigeria through the FMoT.
