ORU LEONARD INDUCTED AS APCON FELLOW ALONGSIDE 62 OTHERS.

Lagos-The Managing Partner, Oru Media & Associates, Publisher of Newsdot Africa, Mr Oru Leonard Oru (frpa), has been inducted as a Fellow of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, (APCON), the apex rank in the Nigerian advertising profession.

The Advertising, Media and Business Development Practitioner who collaborates with several media organisations Including, International Press Center, Time Nigeria Magazine, ABU Alumni Magazines, Security Monitor, Africa Security Investigation Network, Abuja Business News, Abuja Business News, The Sight News, is also a member of the Editorial Team of the Abuja Transport and Aviation Correspondents Association Magazine project (ATACA Journal).

The induction ceremony which took place in Lagos at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos On Wednesday had Practitioners from all sectors of advertising practise in attendance.

In an exclusive interview with Mr. Oru Leonard during the ceremony, he has this to say, “Let it be known that in my journey to the APCON FELLOWSHIP, I remain grateful to God, my family, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, the Registrar, and his team in APCON, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the entire Federal Ministry of Transportation, the Advertising Practitioners Association, Abuja Chapter (APAAC), The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), especially the Abuja Transport and Aviation Correspondents Association (ATACA).”

He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), American Center, of the American Embassy, Abuja Transport and Aviation Correspondents Association, The Nigerian Union of Journalists, Publicity Secretary- Advertising Practitioners’ Association, Abuja Chapter (NUJ), and is instrumental to establishing several advertising associations in different states of the country.

Earlier, the Registrar/Chief Executive officer of the Advertising
Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, FCA, RPA at the Induction while giving his opening address stated that the last ten years was when the last set was inducted expressing optimism that the new inductees would make the profession proud.
“I am optimistic that with the status that comes with your elevation in the
the advertising industry, you will diligently represent the profession in all
progressive ramifications and resourcefully apply your position to promote the best interest of the profession.

“Recently, the Advertising Industry Standard of Practice (AISOP), was
established to provide a minimum standard for business engagement in the industry with an aim to improve mutual respect, eradicate unfair advantage, unethical competition, and inequitable engagement terms between
stakeholders in the Advertising and Marketing Communication sector of the economy.

However, it is worthy of note that APCON is visioned to promote responsible and ethical advertising practice, acting as the conscience of society and watchdog for the consumers; whilst managing the needs and interests of the stakeholders in Nigeria’s Advertising Industry, with the mission Advertising Self-regulation:

Mr. Oru Leonard (frpa), vows to take up his new responsibilities as professional as possible stressing that ethnics of the Advertising profession would be strictly adhered to.
