Oloruntola Bows Out, Mahmood Steps in as New Permanent Secretary FMMBE

The Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy has officially marked the transition of its Permanent Secretary role, with Olufemi Oloruntola handing over to Fatima Sugra Mahmood in a ceremony attended by senior officials today in Abuja.
According to Mrs. Anastasia Ogbonna,
Director, Information & PR, Oloruntola, who retires from the Civil Service after completing 35 years of meritorial service, shared his journey since joining in 1990, highlighting achievements in marine security, sustainable blue economy practices, institutional capacity building, climaxed by Nigeria’s admittance into category C of the International Maritime Organization Council after 14 years.
He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and wished his successor well.
During the event, speaker after speaker lauded Oloruntola’s quintessential leadership style, his intelligence, humility and unwavering dedication to service, wishing him well in retirement, while encouraging Mahmood to build on the progress achieved.
In her remarks, Mahmood pledged to continue the legacies of her predecessor, emphasizing her commitment to collaboration and teamwork.
She called on Directors and staff to support her in delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in advancing the Ministry’s role in national development and blue economy growth.
It is worthy to note that Mahmood, a seasoned Civil Servant, brings a wealth of experience to her new posting, having previously served as Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office (CMO), Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.
