Ogun donates 130 hectares of land to FG for inland dry port

Ogun State Government has donated over 130 hectares of land to the Federal government for the development of an inland Dryport.

The initiative is in response to the Federal Government’s effort aimed at facilitating trade through the development of Inland Dry Ports across the country.

With this development, the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy is set to develop an inland port terminal in Ijebu-Ode to improve trade and reduce pressure on existing Western Ports.

The Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oloruntola, who signed the formal transfer of rights, control, and possession on behalf of the Federal Government assured of the Government’s commitment to completing the port in no distant time.

Representing the State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, the Ogun State Commissioner of Transportation, Mr. Gbenga Dairo, confirmed that the State provided the land to the Federal Government through the Ministry to facilitate and enable the construction of an inland port terminal within the Ijebu-Ode economic cluster area.

Dairo added that, the construction will improve intermodal transportation in the State and the Western Ports by extension.

When completed, he said the port will be officially named the “Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port.”
