State Correspondent

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, today received in audience the Presidential Flag Bearer of the Labour Party, Peter Obi at his private residence in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

The meeting is coming days after Obi returned from Egypt where he went “to understudy by what miracle the third biggest economy in Africa after South Africa and Nigeria moved their power generation from 20,000 Megawatts to over 40,000 megawatts in four years,” according to a statement by his aide.

Our Correspondent reports that Obi was taken inside where he had a meeting with the governor behind closed doors.

However, the duo did not speak on the purpose of their meeting, as Journalists were not granted access.

This is also coming after it was reported that presidential candidate of People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar constituted a committee to pacify and woo the Rivers state Governor and other aggrieved members of the party.

It has also been alleged that the opposition party has been rocked by crisis following the choice of Delta state’s Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, as Atiku’s running mate.
