The Nigerian Youth Decides,NYD, has expressed disappointment over the postponement of last Saturday polls. The group described the decision of the electoral body, INEC, as a seeming attempt to demoralise the electorates who had sacrificed lots of resources, energy, time, putting themselves on the line just to perform their civic right, given the love and hope they have for a new Nigeria.

The president of the group, Mr Uche  Ekporve Paul, in a chat with News Dot Africa tcall on the members to remain calm and resolute, by making sure their votes count.

“Having underscored the consequences of this development, we appeal to all NYD members and teeming supporters nationwide to stay calm, and not to over react as we reaffirm our determination, resilience and commitment to building a stronger Nigeria”, he noted.

The President also said that NYD has done a lot in reprogramming the mindsets of the Nigerian youths towards a better nation through the 2019 general elections, “therefore with all sense of patriotism we expect a credible, free and fair elections as we go to the polls on the new dates. And anything otherwise, NYD will mobilise millions of her members and teeming supporters to the necessary quarters to ask the right questions because Nigeria must begin to do things right, irrespective of the interest of some individuals or group of persons”, he added

He appealed to INEC and all her staff, adhoc staff including all groups and institutions involved in the conduct of the 2019 general elections to tread with caution and avoid anything that could plunge the nation into crisis.

“We employ both the local and international observers that have been put in place to strictly follow up and observe the whole process of the election. In view of this,  NYD as a certified youth group has set up a four-man panel who will be there to receive reports from Nigerians from different geopolitical zones all for the interest of our nation.

“We hereby ask Nigerians to feel free to call any of our phone numbers  to give us an eye witness report during the elections and anywhere you observe anything that is capable of undermining the credibility of the election. A better Nigeria is what NYD seeks for”,Mr Uche said.
