NSIB DG Strengthens Regional Aviation Safety Ties with Asky Airlines in Togo

The Director General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Captain Alex Badeh Jr., has deepened regional aviation safety ties with a strategic visit to Asky Airlines in Lomé, Togo. The visit marked a significant step in fostering regional cooperation and mutual alignment on aviation safety, investigative transparency, and technical training.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties between Nigeria’s Transportation Accident Investigation Agency and West Africa’s leading carriers to enhance investigation processes and safety awareness.
Discussions centered on harmonizing safety practices, establishing a framework for operational support, and collaborating on safety investigation procedures in accordance with ICAO-reccommended standards.
Both parties expressed optimism about opportunities for ongoing collaboration, including the exchange of investigative insights, capacity-building initiatives, and shared safety training programs.
“This visit goes beyond being a gesture of goodwill; it is a deliberate step towards building a network of trust, cooperation, and accountability in West African aviation”, Badeh Jr said.
“At Asky Airlines, our priority is to meet and exceed safety standards. Collaboration with investigative authorities like the NSIB helps us remain responsive, transparent, and fully aligned with international best practices”, Mr. Esayas Woldemariam Hailu disclosed.
The visit underscores the importance of collaboration in ensuring aviation safety in West Africa. By working together, the NSIB and Asky Airlines aim to prevent accidents, enhance safety outcomes, and promote a culture of safety in the region.
