NSCC Holds Town Hall Meeting With Stakeholders in Abuja

An agency concerned with improving quality of life of senior citizens, Nation Senior Citizens Centre NSCC, organized a one day Town hall meeting with stakeholders on the implementation on NSCC Grandmothers Arise For Good Initiative. Economic Tree Planting Project (Bwari Area Council Pilot) on 20th March, 2023 in Bwari, Abuja
Speaking at the meeting, the Director General of the Agency, Dr Emem Omokaro appreciated the community
according to her, Economic tree planting will not only tackle climate change, but will also create jobs and lift senior citizens out of poverty and fight soil erosion in the community.
The purpose of the project is to engage our senior citizens into physical activities, improve elderly employment as they still have power to earn income
The project will limit ultimately good health and wellbeing, she added
Omokaro added that the community will identify crops they want to plant and the agency will connect them with serious marketers/ buyers as the centre is out to assist communities in doing what they know how to do but in a better way
In his address the Executive Chairman, Bwari Area Council (BAC), Hon. Dr. John S. Gabaya appreciated everyone and assured that BAC is opened for development.
He further pledged his full support and partnership for the progress of actualizing the economic tree planting project.
Also speaking, the Mandate Secretary Area Councils Services, FCTA, Alhaji Ibrahim Dansoho who was represented by the Assistant Director Area Council Services Secretariat, Mrs Cebawaza Lucy appreciated the Centre for finding one of his area councils worthy to start such project with and urged that the project extends to the rest of the area councils
As the Mandate Secretary, he pledged his support for the success and sustainability of the project
Dansoho assures synergy with necessary bodies to achieve the aim of NSCC
