NSCC Begins 5 days National Writing Workshop

In furtherance of The National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC), work plan for the 10 years Strategic Plan Development, the centre organised a 5 days National Writing Workshop which started on Monday.
In her welcome address, the DG NSCC, Emem Omokaro said that the journey so far has been fruitful despite all challenges.
While addressing the press, Emem disclosed that the resources and materials to enable desk review to set contextual framework has been collated from inception meeting, down to public sector roundtable.
She added that ” Two representatives each from 19 states were invited in the Northern zone including FCT and 8 categories were fully represented in the zonal consultations.
” From the zonal consultations, the output we were able to realize is the national diagnostic report.
We are had today to critically look at all inputs i.e the diagnostic reports, contextual analysis and leading us to now proceed to the writing workshop”, she explaned.
She therefore assured participants of anexciting time, adding that the centre is working on technical working group that is looking at anti elder abuse community response squad, a module to deal with elder abuse.
The representative of Save The Children, Saed Mustapha, in his speech noted that the technical working group was inaugurated to be the committee that drives the development of the strategy.
The strategy belongs not to only NSCC but Nigeria as a whole.
“The issue of aging is not something an individual or one organisation can address, so we need to come together to make it work”, he added.
Speaking also, Mrs Joy Ofere, representative of WHO assured NSCC that WHO is solidly behind the strategic development.
“At World Health Organization, we wanna make sure we deliver health services to the last point for senior citizens”, Joy added.
