NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko Meets Nigeria Shooting Sport Federation to Boost Development of Shooting Sports

SportsThe Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, on Thursday received the leadership of the Nigeria Shooting Sport Federation (NSSF) at the Commission’s office located at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The delegation was led by the President of the federation, Commodore Shettima Mohammed Shagir, who discussed key strategies aimed at advancing the growth and development of shooting sports across Nigeria.
During the meeting, both parties explored opportunities to strengthen grassroots participation, enhance talent identification systems, and improve preparations for international competitions.
Officials emphasized that shooting sports remain one of the Olympic disciplines offering multiple medal opportunities. As part of efforts to maximize these prospects, the federation is working towards expanding the sport through regional competitions and well-structured national programmes designed to discover and nurture emerging talents.
The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts by the National Sports Commission to collaborate with sports federations in building a sustainable pathway for athlete development and improving Nigeria’s competitiveness on the global stage.
