Northwest Governors Stand United Against Banditry, Embrace Community Protection

The collective resolve to combat banditry in Nigeria’s Northwest region has taken a significant stride as the Northwest Governors Forum, under the leadership of Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has announced its rejection of peace reconciliation with bandits. This declaration comes alongside the commissioning of 2600 Community Protection Guards (CPG) in Zamfara State.
During the graduation and official commissioning ceremony held in Gusau, Zamfara State, Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda, Chairman of the North West Governors Forum, emphasized the unified stance of the regional governors in tackling the scourge of insecurity. He highlighted their commitment to transcending political differences in the interest of safeguarding the populace.
“We have resolved to work together as a team, despite political differences, to save our people from the menace of insecurity,” Governor Radda asserted. He underscored that in the fight against banditry, distinctions such as political affiliations dissolve, leaving only a unified North West region.
Governor Radda reiterated that the primary focus of the current leadership in the region is the welfare and advancement of its people. The launch of community protection guards in Katsina and Zamfara marks a pivotal step forward, with plans underway for the remaining states of Sokoto, Kebbi, Jigawa, Kano, and Kaduna to follow suit.
The Northwest Governors’ resolute stance underscores a collective determination to restore peace and security, fostering a safer environment for all residents across the region.
