NiMet Forecasts Sunny and Hazy Conditions for Northern Nigeria, Thunderstorms in Southern States

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), has issued a weather forecast for the next three days, predicting sunny and hazy conditions in the Northern region, while the Southern region is expected to experience increased cloudiness and localized thunderstorms.

On Monday, December 22, 2025, the Northern region will be sunny and hazy, with similar conditions expected in the North Central region. The Southern region will experience cloudy mornings with intervals of sunshine, and thunderstorms are likely in parts of Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ondo, Ogun, and Lagos states during the afternoon and evening hours.

On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, sunny skies are anticipated in the Northern and North Central regions, while the Southern region will experience cloudy mornings and isolated thunderstorms in parts of Imo, Abia, Ondo, Osun, Ogun, Edo, Delta, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Bayelsa states.

On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, the Northern and North Central regions will remain sunny, while the Southern region will experience cloudy mornings and isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains in parts of the South East, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Lagos, and Ogun states.

NiMet advises the public to take necessary precautions due to suspended dust particles in the Northern region and to be cautious of the weather conditions, especially for those with asthmatic and respiratory issues. Airline operators are also advised to get airport-specific weather reports from NiMet.
