The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has given the assurance that the country’s airspace is now safer thanks to its enhanced safety surveillance measures. Acting Director General, Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, made this announcement during the staff’s annual New Year prayers at the Authority’s corporate headquarters in Abuja.

According to Capt. Najomo, the NCAA has been working tirelessly to ensure that all airlines comply with safety regulations. Recently, the Authority sanctioned five airlines for refusing to pay refund tickets, and these airlines have agreed to pay on time.

The NCAA’s efforts to improve safety in the airspace are part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and the Minister of Aviation’s five-point agenda ¹. Capt. Najomo expressed his commitment to delivering on his core job functions and meeting his performance targets, despite facing sponsored attacks.

In addition to enhancing safety surveillance, the NCAA is also working to improve staff work conditions. The Authority plans to fully digitalize its operations, with the deployment of digital solutions such as the flight data center, CPD portal, and DATR portal.

The event also marked the kick-start of the NCAA’s 25th-anniversary celebration, with the hoisting of the NCAA @25 flag and the unveiling of the anniversary monument.
