NIGERIAN LEGION RECOMMENDS STIFF PENALTY FOR OFFENDERS OF FAKE EMPOWERMENT STICKERS

The Nigerian Legion has pledged stiffer penalty to erring members of public using fake empowerment stickers meant to assist the widows, orphans and ex- service men of the Nigerian arm forces.
The National chairman Nigerian Legion Abdulmalik Jibrin made this known at the Nigerian Legion Mass Transit Scheme taskforce meeting held 15th February,2022 in Abuja.
Major General Jibrin who stressed that some members of the public have engaged in dubious means which deter the organisation from meeting its obligations said any member of the public sabotaging their efforts would be penalized.
Reacting also, The National Coordinator of the scheme Dr. Ernest Akoteyon as well as the Vice President of the programme Captain John Atole (Rtd) stressed that the organisation would not relent in its effort to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged among the widows and member of the legion.
Stating the purpose of the scheme Mr. Alonge Akinwumi explained that, the Nigerian Legion Mass Transit scheme was established to reduce the over dependent on government assistance on the incapacitated ex-service men, widows and orphans of the fallen heroes.
According to Akinwumi, “The taskforce are always on the road to ensure we deter all sorts of adulterated and fake stickers. These stickers are being given out to identified vehicles that are registered with Nigerian legion mass transit fleet.
According to the National President,Military Widows Association MIWA, Mrs Veronica Gift Aloko, the empowerment stickers if patronized by the public will indeed help generate revenue for the Military Widows to be self reliance, self discipline and resilient to face the challenges of today.
She further urged organisations like BUA, Dangote etc to get the stickers for their trucks
The meeting which had in attendance representatives from the regional offices across the country brainstorm of the way forward on how to tackle the problem.
