Nigeria, South Africa Solidify Ties as 11th Bi-National Commission Comes to a Close

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria has expressed his profound appreciation for the successful conclusion of the 11th Session of the South Africa-Nigeria Bi-National Commission (BNC) in Cape Town, South Africa. The commission, which aimed to strengthen strategic partnerships between the two nations, ended on a high note with several agreements and memoranda of understanding (MOUs), signed.

President Tinubu commended the comprehensive, frank, and creative deliberations that took place during the session, emphasizing the importance of the BNC as an effective institutional mechanism for managing and nurturing bilateral relations. He urged ministers and senior officials from both countries to ensure prompt and effective follow-up and implementation of the agreements reached.

The Nigerian President also reaffirmed his commitment to the partnership, expressing his desire to intensify cooperation between the two nations to drive development, peace, security, stability, democracy, and prosperity in Africa.

In related news, Nigeria has sought South Africa’s backing for membership in the G20 and BRICS, as well as support for assuming leadership roles in thematic discussions under South Africa’s G20 presidency.
