Nigeria Congratulates Dr Khalilur Rahman on His Appointment as Bangladesh’s Minister of Foreign Affairs

The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, OON, has extended his warmest congratulations to His Excellency Khalilur Rahman on his appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Bangladesh.

In a statement signed by the MFA Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, Tuggar noted that Nigeria and Bangladesh have long enjoyed cordial and brotherly relations, anchored on mutual respect, shared Commonwealth values, and a common commitment to international peace, sustainable development, and the reform of global governance institutions.

“The Government of Nigeria is confident that, under Dr. Rahman’s distinguished leadership, the bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two nations will be further strengthened and expanded.

“The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs looks forward to working closely with the new Foreign Minister to deepen bilateral engagements in areas of mutual interest, including trade and investment, technology transfer, capacity building, and multilateral cooperation”, he

The Ministry expresses optimism that his tenure will usher in a new era of dynamic and mutually beneficial partnership between Nigeria and Bangladesh.
