Nigeria Boxing Federation Zonal Elections Cancelled Amidst Controversy

The Nigeria Boxing Federation’s zonal elections, scheduled to take place across all six geopolitical zones, have been abruptly cancelled without prior notice or official communication from the National Sports Commission (NSC). The Southwest Zonal Representative election, set for today, September 27, 2025, in Ibadan, was among those affected.
The cancellation without notice as delegates from various states arrived at their respective zonal election venues only to be informed that the elections had been cancelled nationwide.
Mr. Laguda Babatunde Abdulrahman and Ms. Falilat Tijani Morenikeji were elected as Technical Representative and Athletes’ Representative, respectively, on September 22, 2025, in Abuja.
Stakeholders are raising concerns about possible irregularities in the electoral process and demanding immediate intervention from relevant authorities.
