NiDCOM GETS THUMBS UP FROM ETHIOPIA DIASPORA AGENCY

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) led by Hon AbikeDabiri-Erewa has been commended by Ethiopia Diaspora Agency for the wealth of knowledge, experiences and many success stories of Nigerians in the Diaspora.
Leader of the Six-man delegation Dr Mohammed Endris who is also the Director General of the Agency, gave the commendation when the Ethiopia Diaspora Agency visited NIDCOM Management in Abuja, on a study tour , to learn more about Nigeria’s engagement with her Diaspora
Dr Mohammed Endris expressed the readiness of the Ethiopian government to strengthen relations between Nigeria and Erhiopia to have a bigger and loud voice for continental Diaspora.
Dr Endris stated further that the Ethiopia Diaspora Agency is an institution established with specific mandate for Diaspora engagement for Ethiopia’s development especially in trade, remittances and investment.
The NiDCOM Chairman/CEO, Abike Dabiri-Erewa told the delegation that Nigeria prides herself of the high quality of human capital she has stressing that Nigerian immigrants have been variously described as are the most educated immigrants, adding that almost 70 percent of members of the Association of Black Doctors in America are Nigerians .
She let bare some of NIDCOM’S engagements with her Diaspora through her annual and continuous programmes and activities such as:
a) National Diaspora Policy
b). Engagement with Diaspora through Town Hall Meetings by President Muhammadu Buhari
c) National Diaspora Day Celebrations.
d). Nigerian Diaspora Investment Summit.
e). The Door of Return festival.
f). Repatriation and intervention of stranded Nigerians abroad
g). Nigerian Diaspora Investment Trust Fund
h). Production and publication of +600 Diaspora Icons for 60,
i). Diaspora Housing Fair, among other engagements tailored towards trust building.
Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, were actively involved in the strategic meeting.
