NFVCB creates 3 new offices, 7 Censorship Centres

In order to strengthen the implementation of the Ease of Doing Business policy of the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration, and to further domesticate it in the burgeoning Nigerian film industry, the National Film and Video Censors Board has announced the expansion of its offices and censorship centers.

In a memo signed by the Director of Administration, Chigozie E. Uwaezuokie, the new offices are located in AMAC, Abakaliki and Ikorodu in the Federal Capital Territory, Ebonyi and Lagos State respectively. The Abakaliki center, to be headed by Ejike Nwodo, was graciously donated by Engr. David Umahi, Executive Governor of Ebonyi State.

In the same vein, the Board has also added seven censorship centers to the existing ones. They are located in Abeokuta, Kaduna, Minna, Aba, Sokoto, Ilorin, and Abakaliki. These centers will continue to perform their previously stipulated roles in addition to film classification.

The Executive Director NFVCB, Alhaji Adedayo Thomas, has enjoined filmmakers and other industry stakeholders to take advantage of the proximity of the additional censorship centers to submit their works for classification, while admonishing them to reduce long distance travels for the same purpose.
