In a bid to drive President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has empowered 100 Ebonyi youths with modern electrical installation skills. This 5-day training, which took place at Remeritona Hotel and Suites Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, from November 26-29, 2024, focused on advanced installation of electrical wiring, appliance repair, solar power installation, electrical panel maintenance, safety inspections, and upgrading of electrical systems.
According to the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NASENI, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, this training is part of the agency’s efforts to contribute to economic growth, create an enabling environment for skill development, and alleviate poverty. Halilu noted that the training will guarantee employability and economic opportunities for the youths, meet industry demands, and promote safety and compliance.
The beneficiaries were handed over startup kits containing various modern electrical tools, including face shields, earmuffs, hard hats, coveralls, and safety boots. The Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, represented by the Commissioner for Skill Development and Job Creation, Hon. Elija Okwu Oko Udu, commended NASENI for the initiative, stating that it aligns with the state’s vision to create opportunities for every Ebonyi youth to succeed and contribute meaningfully to society.
This empowerment program is the third in the South-East zone, following similar exercises in Anambra State on Solar Installation and Maintenance and Imo State. With this initiative, NASENI is driving President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on ending poverty, promoting economic growth, and creating job opportunities for Nigerian youths.
