NAF WEEKLY OPERATIONAL BRIEF: CDS Praises Inter-Service Synergy in Fight Against Insecurity

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, commended the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) for their exceptional synergy in the face of daunting security challenges. During a briefing at the Strategic Operations Centre, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, on August 12, 2024, General Musa expressed his delight at the high level of cooperation among the services.

The CDS praised the AFN for their renewed efforts in combating oil theft in the Niger Delta region, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to boost oil production. He acknowledged the numerous operational successes against terrorists, insurgents, kidnappers, and other criminal elements, attributing these achievements to the inter-service synergy.

Gen Musa said, “Though our current security challenges are daunting, they are, however, surmountable as long as we continue to work together as a team.”

He then called for continued collaboration and cooperation among the Services and with other security agencies. The CDS also emphasized the need for increased discipline among personnel, stressing that “all hands must be on deck” to achieve the desired results.” While appreciating NAF personnel for their unwavering dedication and hard work, the CDS assured that he was fully committed to providing all necessary support to enable the NAF and other Services rid the Nation of its security challenges.

He  commended the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar for his leadership and encouraged the NAF to maintain the momentum and continue working collaboratively with other services to ensure the security and stability of the country. According to him, “We must continue to enhance our synergy and intensify air operations to combat terrorists and other criminal elements, curbing their operational freedom and fostering favourable conditions for successful ground operations by our troops.”

General Musa emphasized that the current security challenges, though formidable, are surmountable as long as the services continue to work together.  challenges ahead, buoyed by the knowledge that their collective strength would ultimately triumph over adversity.

The CDS was accompanied by the Chief of Defence Operations, Major General Emeka Onumajuru, and other staff officers.
