The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that its C-130 aircraft, which made a precautionary landing in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, has safely departed and arrived in Accra, Ghana. The aircraft is preparing for onward movement to Portugal via Banjul and Casablanca for scheduled depot maintenance.

This disclosed in a statement released by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame,
Director of Public Relations and Information on 19 December 2025.

The NAF appreciates the public’s concern and assures Nigerians that all personnel are safe and the aircraft is serviceable. The aircraft’s landing was due to a technical issue, and the crew followed international aviation safety procedures.

The incident had sparked tensions between Nigeria and Burkina Faso, with the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) accusing Nigeria of violating its airspace. However, diplomatic efforts led by Nigeria’s Foreign Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, resulted in the release of the 11 Nigerian military personnel and the aircraft.
