NACCIMA Joins Ministerial Committee on TETFund High Impact Intervention Project

Abuja, Nigeria | Monday, 2 March 2026: The Federal Ministry of Education has inaugurated the Ministerial Monitoring, Evaluation and Implementation Committee for the TETFund High Impact Intervention Project, a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening Engineering and Technology faculties in Federal Universities of Technology and conventional universities across Nigeria.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the TETFund Auditorium in Abuja, was formally carried out by the Honourable Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON. The event brought together key stakeholders from government, academia, professional bodies, and the private sector to reinforce oversight mechanisms and ensure the effective implementation of TETFund intervention projects.

A notable highlight of the ceremony was the inauguration of the President of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Jani Ibrahim, mni, OON, as a member of the committee. His inclusion represents the organized private sector and strengthens industry participation in advancing engineering and technology education in Nigeria.

In his remarks, Minister Alausa emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing institutional capacity, promoting accountability, and ensuring measurable outcomes through the High Impact Intervention Project.
The Honourable Minister of State for Education, Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmed, underscored the critical importance of effective monitoring and evaluation frameworks to guarantee transparency and drive tangible results across beneficiary institutions.

Also speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Sonny S. T. Echono, highlighted the need to carefully identify critical institutional needs and ensure the judicious and transparent utilization of intervention funds for maximum impact.

The Chairman of the Implementation Committee and President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ali Rabiu, delivered the acceptance remarks, assuring stakeholders of the committee’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective project execution.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Education and TETFund, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement Sunday Asefon, distinguished Vice Chancellors from various Nigerian universities, and representatives from government agencies, academia, and professional bodies.

Goodwill messages from representatives of the National Assembly, TETFund, and the Presidency commended the Federal Government’s renewed drive to strengthen engineering and technology education as a catalyst for Nigeria’s industrial and economic development.
The inauguration marks a significant milestone in strengthening governance structures around TETFund’s High Impact Intervention Projects.

 

The inclusion of NACCIMA on the committee underscores the critical role of the private sector in advancing engineering education, improving institutional capacity, and supporting Nigeria’s broader industrialization agenda.
