NAC 2023 will take a detailed look at all elements, DNA of Brand Nigeria- ARCON DG

Director General, Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), has said that the third edition of the National Advertising Conference (NAC), which will take a detailed look at all the elements, and the DNA of Brand Nigeria and come up with a communications plan for it through a committee.

Dr Fadolapo revealed this at a press conference held Monday at L’eola Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

Fadolapo, in his welcome address, said the event which will be held from December 6-8 2023 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja will have as the theme, “Marketing Communication As An Enabler For National Transformation”.

According to him, “The second committee is the GDP multiplier committee to look at the industry. Firstly, what is the industry netspend? Secondly, what is the contribution of the industry to the GDP and thirdly, what is the multiplier effect on the economy,” he said.

Speaking at the event the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Tunji Adeyinka, said ARCON has decided to put together a conference that brings together all the stakeholders practitioners and businesses in the advertising ecosystem.

Adeyinka noted that the takeaways from the 2022 edition were determining the size of the industry the contribution to the GDP and the multiplier factor, which will form a key part of the 2023 edition.

“The multiplier effect means that every kobo of naira spent for advertising translates to a certain amount in the economy. Therefore we decided to start with a committee to work on that assignment. The committee will first put together what is the contribution of this industry to the GDP; second, what is the multiplier effect on GDP and then, what are the social factors and other contributions the industry has made.

“The committee is chaired by Mr Femi Adelusi, the president of MIPAN and has members from the different sectoral groups. The committee will work with a well-known consulting company to give the study weight and credibility.

“The second committee also came out of an issue that was raised at the last conference. So we decided as an industry to launch a campaign that represents Brand Nigeria but from a citizen’s point of view as a Nigerian and from the industry point of view. ”

Also speaking is the president, association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria(AAAN), Steve Babaeko, said, “The reason for the concerns and complaints about our beloved country is our awareness that we can do better, driven by our profound love for Nigeria. This is our only home, regardless of where else we may go. We believe the Brand Nigeria committee will address key challenges and factors affecting the industry.”

Present at the event were: President of AAAN; Tunji Adeyinka, Chairman of the Planning Committee NAC; Femi Adelusi, President of MIPAN; Tolulope Medebem, President of EXMAN (represented by Angela Makinwa, Director of Client Engagement, Strategy & Creative at EXP Marketing Nigeria); and Mr. Joe-Eugene Onuorah, RPA, Director of Registration at NAC, among others.
