The need to engender policies that will increase women participation in peace and security issues as well as improve accountability has been emphasized
Ambassador Vivian Anyanwu, National coordinator women on a mission international stressed this at the national workshop on women, peace and security held recently.
At the workshop attended by women from different works of life , Anyanwu lamented the challenges faced by women which deprives them of their rights and prevents them from participating in peace, security and development.
According to her there is need to ” deemphasize reliance on physical ability as a criteria for women’s participation in the security sector.
She said the objective of the workshop include to provoke thoughts on the important role of women in peace, security and development in Nigeria as well as a national policy priority for the President Bola Tinubu led administration on women, peace and security.
