MOST REV. DR. MIRACLE AJAH ELECTED PRINCIPAL CLERK OF THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF NIGERIA

Most Rev. Dr. Miracle Ajah has been elected as the new Principal Clerk of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria (PCN). The election took place on Friday, 26th September at Hope Waddell Parish of the Church in Calabar, Cross River State.

The Principal Clerk occupies the second highest ecclesiastical positionin the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria after that of the Prelate and Moderator. With this election, Most Rev. Miracle Ajajh will serve for six years as the chief administrative officer whose duties will include day to day administration of the church, personnel management, deployment of workers, scheduling of meetings at the national and international levels, representing the Church in ecumenical and outside bodies etc. Most Rev. Ajah will serve under the Prelate and Moderator of the Church, His Eminence Nzie Nsi Eke.

Most Rev. Miracle Ajah is from Abia Ohafia in Abia State. He is currently an Associate Professor of Old Testament Studies in the Department of Religious Studies at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). He was ordained into the ministry of the Word and Sacrament by the Presbyterian Church in 1987. He attended Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel, University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Texas, US, University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Trinity Union Theological College, Umuahia. His qualifications include Proficiency Certificate on Biblical Hebrew Grammar (Hebrew University, Jerusalem), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD Old Testament – Stellenbosch University, South Africa), Master of Arts (MA Biblical Studies – Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Texas, USA), Bachelor of Arts (BA Religion – University of Nigeria, Nsukka) and Diploma in Theology (Dip. Theo – Trinity Union Theological College Umuahia).

Most Rev. Dr. Miracle Ajah had previously served as minister in charge of many parishes and rose through the ranks in many senior positions within and outside the Church. He has many publications (books and academic articles) to his credit.

He is happily married to Rev. Mrs. Divine Miracle Ajah and they are blessed with five children
