More Acolades as NCC Wins (WSIS) Prize for its Digital Awareness Programme (DAP).

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has won the 2025 World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) Prize for its Digital Awareness Programme (DAP) under Category C3, focusing on Access to Information and Knowledge. The DAP, launched in 2006, has equipped over 300 secondary schools across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones with ICT tools and internet connectivity, enhancing teaching, learning, and research.
NCC Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Dr. Aminu Maida, received the award in Geneva, Switzerland, stating, “This recognition affirms that investing in digital inclusion is investing in national development, and Nigeria’s work is being seen and valued globally”.
The WSIS Prize recognizes projects leveraging ICTs for sustainable development. Four other Nigerian projects were nominated for the Champions Category: Women Techsters, ADEPTI, Telecom-Based Research Grant Initiative, and Digital Learning Initiative.
