Hon. Lois Auta, Founder CedarSeed Foundation and Former Candidate for the House of Representatives in the just concluded 2019 general Elections has expressed her dissatisfaction over the exclusion of Persons with Disability from President Buhari’s anticipated Cabinet.
She expressed her displeasure, following the ongoing Buhari’s Ministerial nominees screening in the Senate.
“The obvious exclusion of Persons with Disability in the Ministerial nominees’ list read by the Senate President as sent to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari has pop us up and the entire Persons with Disability with an unexpected and unimaginable surprise. It is indeed a heart bleed disappointment to see that the resilient efforts made by People with Disability in the area of politics, leadership, sundry empowerment using our various platforms is not more than enough reason to be involved in the affairs of governance in the Buhari led cabinet.
We are amazed that President Muhammadu Buhari did not consider any person with Disability worthy and fit in his cabinet”, she said.
While portfolios are yet to be assigned to the ministerial nominees, Hon. Lois advised that President Buhari could still send a supplementary list containing Persons with Disability.
“we urge the president to make room for the Persons with Disability more just passing the Disability bill into law. Inclusion governance shouldn’t be limited to a paper work only but it is expected to be practiced by seeing the Disables worthy and given a space in the cabinet of the Next Level Administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“It could be garnered that person’s with Disability have emerged in various principal positions in their states and countries. There is basically no doubt a huge result achieved within a short period of time.
“Its no doubt that a wait in President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term cabinet would soon be over, the wait for Disability inclusion in his cabinet still tarry, the state Governors across Nigeria still have an opportunity to change this narrative by appointing young competent persons with Disability to head sundry commissions and departments at the state and local Government levels”, she added.
