Minister of Foreign Affairs Commends IBAN On Theme of Annual Conference

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has commended the Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (IBAN) on the theme of its 2025 Annual General Meeting and Conference on Thursday, November 20, 2025: “Broadcasting for Information Sovereignty, National Cohesion and Digital Security.”
In a goodwill message the represented by the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa emphasized the importance of independent broadcasters in promoting national cohesion, information sovereignty, and digital security.
Tuggar stressed that information sovereignty is a strategic imperative, equivalent to territorial integrity and urged broadcasters to amplify the threads that bind Nigerians together, promoting dialogue, understanding, and patriotic fervor
The Minister also emphasized the importance of securing broadcasting platforms against cyber-attacks, data breaches, and coordinated influence operations
He described IBAN members as essential partners in nation-building and safeguarding national interests
The Minister expressed confidence that the conference would provide a platform for insightful deliberations and a successful outcome, and wished IBAN a successful annual meeting and conference.
