Lezsco partners Radiance to promote Green hotels, businesses

Lezsco Luxury Apartments Hotel has partnered with Radiance Hospitality Management Limited to promote green hotels and businesses.
In a seminar held on Wednesday, 24th April 2019, titled “Green Hotel Initiatives”, the Speaker, Mr Komolafe Samford Segun, CEO of Radiance Hospitality Management, said, the Green Hotel, is an environmentally sustainable hotel or accommodation that has made important environmental improvements to its structure and surroundings to minimize negative impact on the natural environment.
Mr Komolafe noted that going green is taking a pivotal step in fulfilling the environmental aspects of the Sustainable Development Goals [SDG].
“The climate change we experience now is a result of our collective carbon footprints we all leave behind on earth. We can reduce it by having more eco-friendly hotels, greener businesses and a generally more healthy lifestyle” he said.
He called on the reliant authorities to come up with cohesive platform or organisation that will give certification to eco-friendly hotels and other business establishments in Nigeria.
Dr. Andrew Abue, an Associate Professor of Anthropology with the University of Abuja, highlighted on the link between going green and the positive impact on our health. He said that human system needs natural and organic items from the environment.
The Lezsco Sales & Marketing Manager, Mr Fidel Ikeora, who took participants round to see the Lezsco environment, disclosed that the hotel has incorporated eco- friendliness from its inception through its practise of using fresh herbs and meats in meals served which are sourced from the hotel’s gardens; recycling energy-saving bulbs and appliances; and a strict “No Smoking” policy enforced around the hotel.
“Going green is one of the more popular demands by consumers in the hospitality value chain. One of the things prospective guests look for now, is if your hotel is green. It is also cheaper and makes our clients healthier” he said.
He further disclosed that the “green lifestyle” and the enlisting of the hotel by the UN after meeting their security and operational standards, has boosted the hotel’s customer base, encouraging past patrons of the hotel to make return visits.
